Any ideas if Patterning will work with this piece of wireless kit?

Absolutely, it will! Check out this video, it quickly walks through how to set up external midi pads (or anything that generates MIDI notes) to control the drum pads.

However that is for patterning 2, would patterning 1 be the same?

Hey Fyer, Thanks for clarifying! Patterning 1 doesn’t have MIDI in for notes, only for other controls. You could map the Akai to parameters (i.e. coarse tuning, volume, etc,) but it doesn’t have a way to map to trigger the drums.
